In Rivers, the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, OPDS, has found 14 locations where crude oil is being illegally refined.
Rear Adm. John Okeke, the Commander, revealed this information and threatened to destroy the illicit refining facility, which was situated on Ataba Island near Bonny Island in Rivers.

After seeing the place, the OPDS Commander stated that intelligence data led to its discovery.
Despite the fact that no one has been arrested, he stated the joint operation would prevent the Niger Delta from serving as a refuge for criminals.
With assistance from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Police, NSCDS, and DIA, among others, we plan to intensify the situation for them.

“Without cooperation, nobody succeeds alone; by working together, we can make significant progress in the battle against unlawful bunkering and pipeline damage.
We are currently traveling toward Akwa Ibom from Ataba Island, which is near Bonny Island in Rivers State.
He remarked, “What we found here is shocking—about 14 massive cooking sites, one of which is still hot and suggests that they left right before the troops arrived.”

The commander stated that the OPDS will maintain surveillance and eliminate economic sabotage actors in the area.
“We are carrying out the work that my predecessor started, and I want to thank God that we were able to accomplish this in less than a day; it indicates that we are doing our job,” he continued.
He warned that individuals involved in pipeline destruction and illicit bunkering would never find peace and urged local criminals to enter lawful enterprises.
