The community’s chairman, Mike Zhang, denounced the crime in a statement on Monday.
Before she was killed, Ms. Buhari was a corps member in Sokoto participating in the required National Youth Service Corps, according to information provided by Mr. Rurun in the motion at plenary.
Despite the evidence indicating that the murder was committed with premeditation, Mr. Rurun claimed that five days later, the police had “failed to release a preliminary report on their investigation.”
Uzoma Abonta (PDP, Abia), who spoke in favor of the resolution, argued that the Nigerian government could not permit outsiders to abuse Nigerians in such a way.
