Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta has been named the Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, FUTMinna, according to the announcement made by the institution’s governing council.
The nomination of Professor Kuta was made public on September 22, 2022, by Prof. Olu Obafemi, Chairman of Council at NMON in Minna.

The institution’s 8th Substantive Vice-Chancellor is Kuta, a professor of microbiology.
He was born on October 26, 1972, in Kuta, Niger State’s Shiroro Local Government Area.
According to Prof. Obafemi, Kuta attended the Federal College of Education in Kontangora from 1989 to 1993 before enrolling at the prestigious Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto in 1994, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc. Hons.) in Microbiology in 1998. He also attended the Government Science Teachers College in Wushishi, Niger State from 1981 to 1986.

He claims that after completing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, which was required, in 2000, he enrolled at F.U.T. Minna for a Master of Technology (MTech) degree program in Pharmaceutical Microbiology, which he completed successfully in 2004 with excellent grades in all courses taken.
A teaching post as a lecturer II in the Department of Microbiology at FUT, Minna was then made available to him in 2005. From there, he pursued a PhD research program in Medical Microbiology at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Bauchi State, which he finished in 2012.
“Thereafter, he made steady academic advancements till he was appointed Professor of Microbiology in October 2018. Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta finally capped the attainment of the status of a full Professor in FUT, Minna on the 14th of April, 2021 when he delivered the 77th Inaugural lecture of the University titled “Knowing the Molecular Heterogeneity of Human Pathogenic Viruses: My Concern and Your Hope”.

Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, Professor Abdullahi Bala’s successor as Vice-Chancellor, is anticipated to officially take over on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
The position is for a single five-year term.
