Seven people died and numerous more were injured when a commercial bus that was near the Third Mainland Bridge in Iyana Oworo caught fire on September 25.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the event in a statement, stating that when agency representatives arrived at the area, they found a commercial bus carrying 14 passengers was on fire.

According to reports, the driver of the Mazda bus with the license plate KJA 699 GY was driving and acting recklessly when it caught fire.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, said that while the driver managed to escape with some burns, three female adults were rescued and taken to Gbagada General Hospital, while a male adult was treated on the spot by LASAMBUS.
Seven people died from burn injuries in the bus, including two male adults, two male children, and four female victims.

The Agency’s LRT Paramedics and a LASAMBUS officer have bagged the remains and given them to the proper authorities.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu continued, “LASTMA authorities at the scene have made arrangements for removal of the charred vehicle off the road.”
