The Federal Government will develop a free trade zone in Ekiti called NEPZA

The Federal Government confirmed on Thursday its intention to establish Ekiti as a key Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Nigeria.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, Managing Director of the Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority, NEPZA, spoke.

According to Adesugba, the organization will assist the state in providing an economic and knowledge free zone for education-based enterprises and technical companies.

He stated that the economic zone would strengthen Ekiti’s economy, increase its Internally Generated Revenue, and lessen the state’s reliance on federal funds.

The MD stated that the FTZ would be ready in 18 months, affirming the Federal Government’s commitment to the project’s success.

Adesugba stated Ekiti is recognized for education, ideas innovation, and “we are going to show the world that Nigeria has arrived”.

“The government is determined to making Ekiti the home of block chain technology, with technological businesses and other industries related to education willing to invest.”

The NEPZA chief intimated that the first step would be to obtain a presidential decree declaring Ekiti a free zone.
