Five local miners were killed by bandits in Kaduna State’s Hayin Udawa hamlet, Chikun Local Government Area.
On Thursday afternoon, the bandits assaulted the mining site where the victims were working.

A source confirmed the incident to the furucinovel but declined to elaborate.
“Five of our local miners were slain on Wednesday while working in the jungle,” according to the source. They were all from the town of Udawa.”
Others were also shot, according to him.

He added that the location of the incident was not far from where robbers ambushed Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers, killing seven as well as six miners a few weeks ago.
DSP Mohammed Jalige, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, did not return phone calls.
