Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has expressed shock at the killings of a prominent pastor, Apostle Jerry Hinjari, and a former local council chairman, Abdullahi Duda.
Apostle Hinjari, the founder and presiding pastor of a Yola-based church, Christ Nation International, was discovered dead on Thursday, January 26, after being kidnapped the night before from his home in Adamawa State’s capital.

Governor Fintiri’s Press Secretary, Humhashi Wonosikou, told reporters Sunday evening that the killing of the pastor had grieved him.
“Apostle Hinjari led a purposeful and impactful life,” he writes, “and though he was young at heart, the pastor stood tall and had never wavered in continuously delivering messages of hope, discussing boisterous relationship issues, and good Christian conduct that found ready expression with the youths.”
The Governor, calling the pastor’s assailants’ actions as terrible, asked security services to rise to the occasion and find the pastor’s killers.

Fintiri also expressed his sadness over the death of Abdullahi Duda, a former Chairman of his own Madagali Local Government Area, saying the news startled him.
“To be honest, I’m at a loss for words; I was puzzled when I got the message and couldn’t recover, but I had to sum up my courage and strength,” the Governor stated.
Abdullahi Duda, the Interim Chairman of the state’s Local Government Councils prior to the current elected leadership, died on Saturday at the age of 55.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Adamawa State, I wish to extend our profound sympathies to the family and Madagali community on this enormous and irreparable loss. “He certainly paid his dues, and the state and Madagali community will remember him forever,” Fintiri added.
