On Tuesday, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto lost his Special Adviser on Female Education, Aishat Maina.
Hajiya Maina died on her way out of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential rally for Atiku Abubakar in Sokoto.

The fatalities were caught in a stampede at the exit gate of Giginya Stadium, the rally’s venue.
Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, Chairman of the Forum of Special Advisers, confirmed the occurrence, recalling her final moments.
Gusau stated that Maina was rushed to Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, where she died minutes afterwards.

Maina was the previous chairperson of Nigeria’s National Woman Journalists Association, NAWOJ, in Sokoto.
Before joining the Female Education Board, she worked as Tambuwal’s Senior Special Assistant for New Media.
Isa Abubakar Shuni, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Sokoto, lauded Maina for teaching female journalists throughout her lifetime.
