Emefiele not Buhari is to blame for the Naira’s dismal performance according to APC’s Ajiboye

Biodun Ajiboye, Assistant Director, Media and Publicity, Tinubu, Shettima Campaign Council, has stated that the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and not President Muhammadu Buhari, should be held accountable for the Naira’s bad exchange rate against the US dollar.

Ajiboye made the statement while answering questions on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday.

He accused Emefiele of being a mole working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration, stating that Emefiele was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan for a specific purpose.

If Ajiboye were president, he would have sacked him and sought proposals from other persons who can effectively control the currency rate.

“An institution, not the Villa, manages the exchange rate in question,” he explained. The entity in charge should bear responsibility for the unprecedented growth or fall, as well as the power to limit the exchange rate.

“That the exchange rate is ballooning without a reasonable doubt is not solely the fault of the president or the presidency. But at the same time, if I were the president, for instance, and I see, I feel and know that the exchange rate is moving beyond fair proportion, I probably would question the CBN governor, is it that you don’t know what to do? Or, more precisely, what is the issue? If he does not provide me a good reason, as CEO, I will terminate him and seek proposals from other people who can effectively handle the exchange rate.

“I really don’t see why Emefiele should have stayed in the office. Emefiele was a PDP appointee; President Goodluck Jonathan would not have selected him if he did not suit his purpose. As a result, I may correctly conclude that Emefiele was and still is a member of the PDP.

“His attempt to join APC and his branded automobiles should indicate that he probably wanted to cross to APC at one point.”
