The Premier League said in a statement on Monday that the violations occurred spanning nine seasons, from 2009 to 2018.
City won the Premier League three times during that time period.
The Premier League observed that the alleged breaches referred to “inaccurate financial information that presents a true and fair representation of the club’s financial status” in particular its “income”, “sponsorship revenue” and “running costs”.

City has been sent to an independent commission, and if found guilty of the claims, the club could face punishment ranging from a points deduction to expulsion from the Premier League.
