The proposed staff audit and worker verification by the state government is being resented by the workforce in Osun State.
The new twist is the state government’s request that the employees provide a copy of their bank statements.

The Ademola Adeleke administration reportedly informed state employees that a personnel audit will be conducted, according to a previous story from furucinovel.
The state workforce was also reassured by Governor Adeleke in a statement issued through his spokeswoman, Olawale Rasheed, that the audit will increase the government’s ability to meet their requirements.
The labor unions had objected to the plan, charging that the state government had failed to include the employees in the audit’s proposed timeline.

However, the same labor unions said they were not opposed to the exercise.
In a news release earlier this week, the academic and non-academic staff of state-owned higher education institutions pleaded with the government to decentralize the exercise because it would be impossible for all the workers to gather in one place for the exercise.
In a joint statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo, the employees who fall under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, College of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, and Non-academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions made this information public.

Speaking for the unions, Fatai Afolabi, ASUP Chairman, Osun Poly, Iree, insisted that they were not opposed to the personnel audit for the Osun workforce but said that the consultant hired by the state government was incompetent.
Additionally, they urged the state government to improve its auditing practices or face potential industrial action.
Busola Adebowale bemoaned the exercise’s negative effects on the workforce in an interview with DAILY POST.
“Imagine they want to do staff verification and they are asking us to submit our bank statements,” she said.
“That’s pretty outrageous. It’s absurd, to be honest.
Another employee, Ademola Olasunkanmi, criticized the government for requiring a bank statement for the workers’ verification process.
The previous ten years have been quite difficult for Osun workers. The Federal Government made us suffer when they demanded that we obtain the Bank Verification Number, or BVN.
“They requested our NIN, or national identification number. We were harmed. We are now being asked to provide bank statements by the state administration,” he said.
Another resident, Charity Ogunsanmi, questioned the justification for the request for a bank statement.
“Banks are used to pay us salaries. Do they consider us to be ghost employees? The government must inform the banks that they must provide such declarations, she argued.
The contractor’s numerous demands have already caused anxiety among the workforce, so there is already some trepidation.
The workers claim they were asked to show bank accounts from 2016 and pension statements from 2010.
