The sit-at-home order in the southeast would stop only with Nnamdi Kanu’s immediate release, according to Simon Ekpa, a separatist and Biafra agitator who has spoken to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
This was revealed on Wednesday in a statement to furucinovel by Ekpa, the self-declared Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile who resides in Finland.

Recall that in the Southeast, Ekpa called for a week of civil disobedience to demand Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
Since Kanu was arrested again in June 2021, sit-at-home behavior has been noted throughout the southeast.
Ekpa emphasized that Kanu’s release will put a stop to the sit-at-home protests in the area.

He stated that a self-referendum would bring back long-term tranquility and economic stability to the area.
He said, “Our message to the Nigerian government is to immediately release MNK, or we will add another stringent measure to civil disobedience, and this time it is to stop oil exploitation in Biafra soil.”
The self-referendum, which he described as the “true democratic process to restore peace and stability in the region,” has been publicly announced to the Nigerian government, who has also been urged to support it.
