The East-West Road has been under construction for more than 14 years, and a group, the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council (NDENYLC), has urged the federal government, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to ensure its completion immediately.
The group bemoaned the fact that the route has continued to be a death trap for commuters throughout the years in a communiqué given to journalists at the conclusion of their meeting in Uyo and signed by the group’s President General, Terry Obieh, and Secretary-General, Captain Henshaw Bassey.

The group praised Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, MD of NDDC, for his outstanding efforts thus far at the commission and urged him to collaborate with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and give the road’s completion top priority.
The group urged the Niger Delta’s residents to give NDDC all the assistance it needs to carry out its mission, and it urged the incoming Niger Delta Affairs Minister to collaborate with the organization’s managing director to successfully complete his ongoing youth development programs.
