The Zamfara State Police Command reported that on Saturday, a gang of armed men, presumed to be bandits, with deadly weapons invaded a students’ leased house on the outskirts of an area of Sabon Garin in Damba and kidnapped two students and a staff member of the Federal University Gusau at gunpoint. The incident took place in the Damba neighborhood of Sabon Garin.
This information was included in a statement that Yazeed Abdullahi, the spokesman for the State Police Command, signed and distributed to members of the press in Gusau, the state capital.
“Upon receipt of the information, the striking force of the Command mobilized for a search and rescue operation,” the statement said. “The operation yielded a very good and positive result as all of the victims were rescued unhurt, operations are still on with the view of arresting the fleeting abductors,” the statement continued.
The statement went on to say that the Command, which is led by Mohammed Shehu Dalijan, has given the people of the state its word that it will do everything in its power to preserve their lives and their property, as well as to create an environment that is amenable to learning across the state.
In addition, he urged the people of the state to provide the command with reliable and up-to-date information on the activities of criminals in an effort to rid the state of all types of lawlessness.
