Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, the former national publicity secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), has stated that, given the current state of economic hardship and hunger in the country, it smacks of mockery and manifest insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians for Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to be discussing the 2027 presidential election.
According to Eze, a large number of Nigerians are now reduced to the status of starving exiles living within their own country.
Wike boasted that no one could challenge him in the Rivers State elections during a Thanksgiving Service honoring Senator Barinada Mpigi in Koroma, Tai Local Government Area. Eze questioned how the Minister could come up with such a story when the administration he works for has plunged the nation into the worst economic crisis in recorded history.
In a statement he made available to reporters on Wednesday, Eze said, “It is ridiculous that while many Nigerians are dying in droves because of the hardship we as a nation are facing, an opportunist like Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, would be talking about 2027 general elections and how nobody will be in position to challenge him and his group.”
Wike stated that the 2027 elections will be easy for his political group because of the alliances they have made in a report headlined “I Don’t Know Who Can Challenge Us In 2027.”
“I don’t know of anybody who can challenge us with the forces we have.” As far as I can tell, it feels like 2027 is tomorrow. I am eager to see it, although it is still very far away. Where is the unity of leadership between the two party leaders, APC and PDP, while they are both present? Which state? You can only locate that togetherness in Rivers.
In response, Eze declared, “It is either the former governor no longer operates from Nigeria or must be operating either from the Moon or the Sun not to observe the level of protests all over the country or the Collapse of our Naira or the failure of our economy and the attendant hunger ravaging Nigerians.” This was in line with the confidence the FCT Minister spoke about how he intends to rig elections in 2027.
