Southeast governors continue to prioritize security – Otti

According to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, all of the South East Governors are pulling in the same direction, regardless of party affiliation, in order to achieve regional unification.

While hosting a delegation led by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, and representatives of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and the Igbo Archbishops and Bishops, Governor Otti made this statement on Friday.

Since there can be no real progress in an environment of insecurity, he stated that the governors continue to prioritize matters of general concern like security.

According to Governor Otti, the South East Governors continue to meet to discuss issues impacting the region, and throughout these meetings, governance is given top priority.

He reassured the Igbo leaders that, notwithstanding their party affiliations, the South East governors had been getting together to discuss the zone’s concerns.

Regardless of your perspective, we need to address security as a region, if not as a nation. Insecurity is fueled, in large part, by unemployment and poverty. Additionally, it provides food for bandits, and Otti emphasized the importance of doing all possible to provide employment opportunities for our people.

According to the governor, who claims to have a well-defined strategy for his administration, developing Aba is one of those strategies. If Aba is developed, the entire Southeast region can be developed, he claims.

The 141 Megawatt Geometric Power Plant in Aba will be commissioned next Monday to provide uninterrupted power supply to Aba and its environs, covering about nine LGAs, according to Dr. Otti, who disclosed that power supply is the major enabler required to spur development in Aba and the entire Southeast region.

Delegation head Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe had previously stated that the organization’s primary goal since its inception three years ago is to promote reconciliation and peace in the South East, emphasizing that progress cannot be achieved in the absence of peace.

Igwe Achebe revealed that the group conducted virtual meetings with several governors in the area.

Noting the group’s dedication to promoting Ndi Igbo peace, mutual respect, love, and prosperity, he praised the Governor for allocating state resources to its development.

In order to achieve economic success, he emphasized that Ndi Igbo must construct a nation within a nation and urged other South East Governors to work together to integrate the SouthEast area.

In addition to Professor Pat Utomi and the head of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, other members of the Joint Body were present during the visit.
