Presidency NASS and MDAs to Provide Anti-Corruption Strategies in Response to Contract Abuse

Posted by

In an effort to put a stop to contract abuse, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has requested anti-corruption strategies from the Presidency, the National Assembly Commission, the Federal Judicial Service Commission, and all other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The EFCC has given all MDAs until March 1 to submit their plans.

Efforts to root out corruption in MDAs are important to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, according to the anti-graft agency, which justified the decision.

In individual letters addressed to the President’s staff, the permanent secretary of state house, aso rock villa, the chairman of the national assembly commission, and the secretary of the federal judiciary service commission, the EFCC made the demand.

It added that their choice was in keeping with the President’s January announcement of the Fraud Risk Assessment Prevention and Control Project for MDAs.

The project’s overarching goal is to find ways to reduce instances of corruption and other financial crimes that are common in MDAs by analyzing the current anti-corruption mechanisms in place.

Please provide the commission with an in-depth plan outlining the anti-corruption measures taken by your department to curb misuse of contracts and other forms of government-issued goods and services.

“Please be informed that the commission is requesting a response to this matter by Friday, March 1, 2024, at the latest,” the letter stated.
