Adebo Ogundoyin, Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, has urged members of the National Assembly to make sure that Nigerians’ aspirations are reflected in the revised constitution.

The speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ogundoyin, stated that many Nigerians have pointed out problems with the current constitution.

He then pleaded with the Senate and House of Representatives members to make sure that the redrafted constitution took the aspirations of common people into consideration.

Ogundoyin stated as much on Monday in Abuja at the House of Representatives Constitution Review Committee’s inaugural meeting.

Ogundoyin pointed out that the shortcomings in the current constitution made a second review of it necessary.

“To better address the current issues, realities, and challenges ordinary Nigerians face on a daily basis, it is important to appreciate and understand the true reflection of the nation’s diversities and complexities,” he stated.

“We have to be sensitive to Nigerians’ needs, particularly during these difficult times.

“Until we have it right, there will be discussions and requests for a review of the 1999 Constitution.

Some individuals and pundits have demanded a comprehensive review of the constitution, while others have called for a review of certain chapters or sections.
