The Lagos State Magistrates Court has remanded famed celebrity vehicle dealer Ikechukwu Ogbona, also known as IVD, in custody in connection with the death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.

The judgment was made following the advice of the State Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, who indicted Ogbonna for involuntary manslaughter, according to the verdict by presiding Magistrate Adebayo Kafayat.

Adebayo stated that the defendant should be arraigned before the High Court after reading the DPP’s advice. As a result, the judge remanded Ikechukwu into detention until the filing of charges against him.

Abubakar Yesufu, the defense counsel, asked the court to release IVD based on previous bail restrictions. The Magistrate, however, ruled that she lacked jurisdiction in the matter of involuntary manslaughter. As a result, all bail applications shall be brought to the high court. She did, however, postpone the matter until March 7, 2023.

Remember that Bimbo died on October 15, 2022, as a result of an injury sustained in a fire that happened as a consequence of conflict in their home in Megamound Estate.
