Protests are scheduled to take place across the country on October 1, and a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organization called Afenifere has stated that this is a legitimate right of the Nigerian people.
According to furucinovel, a group of young Nigerians are preparing to hold a countrywide demonstration on the same day that the country celebrates its Independence Day.

Rising food prices and other economic hardships are the catalyst for the demonstration.
According to a statement released by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the party’s leader, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, stated, “it is the right of the people to do so.”
Nevertheless, the group emphasized that this should take place in a nonviolent manner, without stealing or damaging property, and without injuring anyone.

The statement urged President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s federal administration to bolster security, agriculture, education, and the economy, as well as to step up its efforts to ensure the functioning of existing infrastructure and to provide more.
There is a call for state governments to step up their efforts in infrastructure and service delivery, especially in areas where they are not constrained by the constitution.
“Now that they have fiscal autonomy, the local governments should also be aware of their responsibilities so that people’s welfare can improve tremendously,” he stated.

The statement claims that Afenifere gave credit to the perseverance of Nigerians and voiced hope that things will improve soon.
Even though the country is facing difficult times, the Afenifere leader believes it is important to recognize the small steps taken since independence.
