Both clubs are coming into this match on the heels of defeats in their most recent Premier League encounters, against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace, respectively.

Over the last weekend, Manchester United fell to Nottingham Forest3-2, while Manchester City drew Crystal Palace 2-2.

Both squads last faced off in March of this year.

The Cityzens won the Premier League match at Etihad Stadium, defeating Manchester United 3-1.

When City host United this evening, they’ll be looking to go within nine points of Liverpool, who are currently leading the Premier League.

During his pre-match press conference, Pep Guardiola, Man City’s manager, had previously said that his injured defenders have not made any progress.

Guardiola is considering his options for today’s match against Manchester United in light of the suspensions of Rico Lewis, John Stones, Nathan Ake, and Manuel Akanji.

However, after losing their last encounter against Nottingham Forest, Manchester United will be looking to bounce back when they face Manchester City.

After 15 games in the Premier League, they have 19 points, good for 13th place.

United boss Ruben Amorim has previously stated that his entire team will be available to face City in a match that they are prepared to win.

If everyone is healthy and prepared to win, we should win the game, Amorim stated in his pregame interview.

Luke Shaw, Amorim’s left back, is presently nursing an injury and may not play against Guardiola’s squad.

This is the first Manchester derby for the Portuguese manager since taking over at Old Trafford last month, and it will be versus City.

Before joining Manchester United, Amorim managed Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, when they defeated Manchester City 4-1.

The 39-year-old and Guardiola, his City rival, will be looking to get back on track with the derby match.

Just as he coached Sporting to victory over the Premier League winners while Guardiola was in charge, Amorim has yet to prove that United’s current roster can defeat City.

But neither Manchester club has looked very well this season.

United would climb out of 13th place on the log if Amorim’s team wins versus City.

Also, with Liverpool and Arsenal both losing two points on Saturday, Guardiola’s City can move into the top four with a victory.

Liverpool and Fulham played to a scoreless draw, while Arsenal and Everton played to a scoreless draw.
