An international cultural dance competition is won by five Nigerian children

The first African cultural dance competition was won by five Nigerian kids between the ages of five and ten.

Participants in the Facebook dance competition uploaded five-minute dancing videos for judging by a team of cultural experts.

The competition reached its peak on Saturday when Perfecta Mfonma Ekpo, a Nigerian-born cultural exponent living in the United States, presented the prize money to the victors.

In the children’s division, Master Chisom Ikenna took home the first prize of N50,000 among 42 competitors from various African nations, while Master Emeh Ifeanyi took home the second prize of N40,000.

Miss Chimamanda Bisong, Miss Gracious Dickson, and Master Wealth Obu were the other winners in the teenage category. They each smiled home with N30,000 for taking third place.

In order to support their efforts, 23 additional participants received consolation awards of N20,000 each for exceptional performance.

Seven additional participants were given N10,000.

Speaking to the attendees during the event’s grand conclusion, Ekpo described the purpose of the program as being to increase knowledge and understanding of the various African languages, customs, and civilizations.

The competition aims to reflect our shared belief in the ability of culture to unite people and forge bridges between communities, in addition to providing financial support. Africa is endowed with a staggering diversity of customs, languages, and historical perspectives.

“This program aims to promote pride and unity in our common heritage, which symbolizes the unity in diversity that distinguishes Africa as a unique continent.”

She promised that there will be a second event in March.
