Army officers are cautioned against using unfair methods in the promotion exams

Major General Kevin Aligbe, the Examination President and Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army, TRADOC NA, has issued a warning to the officers who will be taking the Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE) to avoid engaging in any sharp practices. He did so by pointing out that the repercussions of such offenses are severe.

The examination, which is now taking place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, according to a statement released by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, is designed to assess the candidates’ level of expertise while simultaneously improving their leadership capabilities in preparation for higher duties in the Nigerian Army.

Candidates were reminded by the Commander of TRADOC North America that passing the examination is a significant qualifying criterion for their enrollment in the Junior Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Nigeria, as well as related institutions in other locales.

He disclosed that the examination is in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, which is “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a well trained, Equipped, and Highly motivated Force towards achieving its Constitutional Responsibilities in a Joint Environment.” In other words, the examination is designed to ensure that the Nigerian Army is able to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities in a joint environment.

Aligbe gave the prospective students his word that the examination will be conducted in an honest and open manner.

Earlier on, in his address of welcome, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 81 Division, Major General MT Usman, advised the candidates to do their best and preserve decorum and discipline. He explained that the examination was a catalyst in molding the candidates’ career growth.
