Ogun State announced the closure of some critical highways in Abeokuta, the state capital, as part of the events marking the arrival of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday.
Tinubu will be campaigning at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto, Abeokuta.

As a result, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement, TRACE, has informed the public that “vehicles rerouting inbound and outbound the stadium axis would begin at 7 a.m., with the NNPC flyover bridge shut off for road users and traffic routed underpass.”
According to a statement released by TRACE spokesperson Babatunde Akinbiyi, “alternative routes and parking places will be drawn out and supervised by security and safety experts.”
According to Akinbiyi, motorists entering Abeokuta from the Sagamu Interchange-Laderin-Okemosan axis will be diverted to the right at NNPC towards Abiola-Way-Leme-Iyana/Mortuary.

He further stated that all buses entering Abeokuta via the Sagamu Interchange for the campaign rally would be routed to the right at NNPC towards the Abiola-Way-Leme Junction, where they would make a U-turn to the left to the stadium via the road opposite Providence Hotel.
“There will be no access route for vehicles entering from Iyana/Mortuary towards NNPC, except those scheduled for the campaign rally,” a TRACE spokeswoman stated.
Meanwhile, Akinbiyi stated that TRACE and other security and safety agencies would be strategically placed to prevent gridlock on all routes to and from the stadium, as well as to man all parking areas surrounding the stadium.

He appealed to the public and road users for patience and cooperation, assuring them that the strategy would reduce delays and provide effective integrated traffic management along the routes.
