The 30-year-old’s exit infuriated Genk’s fan base, who questioned the club’s judgment to part with the charismatic forward.
The decision was made, according to De Conde, because the organization wanted what was best for the player.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a contract that would never be offered again; Paul, who was 28 years old, wanted to depart, according to Conde’s interview with RTBF.

In 114 league appearances over four years with Genk, Onuachu scored 79 goals.
