Wednesday’s business operations and traffic were suspended for a number of hours due to demonstrators from the Ekiugbo community blocking roads in Ughelli due to allegations of wrongdoing by police and local security personnel in Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The demonstrators carried placards with various inscriptions on them, including “Ughelli Police should allow our people free movement,” “Police brutality is getting too much,” “Police in Ughelli are fighting the innocents instead of criminals,” and “Too much of police illegal activities in the land.”

They claimed to have kidnapped a group of hunters and members of the Ughelli Area command.
The Ekiugbo community’s president general, Bernard Baker, addressed reporters and stated: “We are protesting because the evil is being penetrated by hunters and a few policemen.”
In our towns, there have been numerous kidnappings.

However, when they roam around with battle axes and PoS devices to transfer money from suspects, the police are only there to intimidate and extort individuals. The presence of combat axes on police officers is unexpected.
We discovered that the masterminds behind the kidnappings in Ughelli are the hunters. The hunters will never show up when there is a kidnapping problem because they are protecting the abductors.
Bright Edafe, the public relations officer for the State Police, called the protest a hoax.

He claimed that people with criminal intent were trying to mislead the public.
