Health care, according to Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, is a fundamental human right as well as a basic human need.
He made this statement on Wednesday while hosting a medical delegation team from the Belgium Revive Medical Mission in Jalingo, the state capital.

He asserted that “it is the collective responsibility of the government to ensure that people are not only treated but also empowered with knowledge and resources to live a healthier life.”
He reiterated the intention of his administration to promote global cooperation for development.

The governor praised the group’s willingness to help the state and referred to Belgium as a source of inspiration and hope for other countries.
The mission medical team had worked in three states, including Lagos, Enugu, and now Taraba, to seek partnership with the state government, according to the team leader, Dr. Herman DE Gezelle.
He claimed that for the next two weeks, the team will be dispersed to different regions of the state to provide free diagnosis and treatment for a range of illnesses.

The purpose of the visit, according to Dr. Bordiya Buma, the state’s commissioner of health, is to seek collaboration and offer the residents of the state free medical care.
The commissioner declared that the state’s 16 local government councils would all receive the free medical care.
The team would concentrate on providing surgical treatments, he noted.
