Exam cheating leads to 14 students’ expulsion from UNILORIN

The administration of the University of Ilorin has kicked out fourteen students, including five hundred level students, for various test violations.

The students were expelled for many confirmed instances of exam cheating, according to a statement released by the university spokeswoman Kunle Akogun in Ilorin.

In response to the recommendations made by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee at its 219th meeting on January 10 and 11, 2024, he claims that the institution’s administration approved their expulsion.

Students in grades400,500,300, and 100 are among those impacted, according to Akogun.

Faculty members and students from the following departments were impacted: Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries; Arts, Linguistics, and Nigerian Languages; and Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, and Rural Development.

A few came from the fields of library and information science, telecommunications science, education (both primary and adult), and communication and information science (CIS).

“Others were from the Department of Engineering and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Engineering and Tech/ Materials and Metallurgical Engineering as well as Life Science/Zoology,” confirmed the university spokeswoman.

Consequently, he warned students against engaging in activities that would hinder their academic performance and made it clear that the institution would neither tolerate or pardon those who did so.
