After player Bruno Fernandes recently revealed that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing him, former Manchester United defender Paul Parker criticized the midfielder.

This week, Fernandes said in an interview with The Athletic that he was upset that his move to Tottenham had fallen through.

In the end, he moved to Man United for £67 million in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese international made an immediate impact at Old Trafford, tallying 37 goals and 26 assists in 93 games.

Although Sporting Lisbon rejected Tottenham’s attempts to sign Fernandes while Mauricio Pochettino was in charge, things could have turned out differently for Fernandes.

Parker, who has recently expressed displeasure with Fernandes’ attitude, asserted that Spurs would have been a better fit for him and said that when things are not going well, he plays “rubbish.”

In response to the news, Parker said to BeMyBet, “We have to flip around and say that perhaps Pochettino looked at the players he already had and didn’t want him if he didn’t sign him. They likely didn’t offer as much money as Manchester United, which makes perfect sense given that United frequently overpays for players.

But coming to Tottenham would have been a better choice, according to him, as [Manchester] United is too big a club for him and you can see how poorly he performs when things aren’t going well.
