Fracas at the Osogbo Eid stadium: APC and Adeleke spar

The purported assassination attempt on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has been referred to as executive rasacatiy by the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

The party’s stance is in response to the event that occurred on Wednesday at the Oke-Baale, Osogbo Eid prayer area.

Tajudeen Lawal, the party chairman, said that Adeleke and his political hoodlums were behind the plot in a statement that was made accessible by Kola Olabisi, the director of media and information.

There were reports of an attempted assassination on the governor’s life earlier on Wednesday at the Eid prayer grounds due to uncertainty over the sitting protocol.

“It was an attempt to forcibly remove Alhaji Badmus and Senator Bashiru from their seats at the praying ground and subsequent executive order by Governor Adeleke, who is from Ede, to the police to effect the arrest of the duo, prominent sons of Osogbo, which degenerated into the confusion that engulfed the scene,” the party claims.

“It was also said that the governor, who had already left the scene before the Eid ul-Kabir prayer session started, had given the order to shut the gate leading into the worshipping grounds in order to arrest Alhaji Badmus and Bashiru.

“The natives of Osogbo, who saw no justification for the arrest, rejected the development, leading to the ensuing rabid scene.

Additionally, it was learned that Governor Adeleke did not even get out of his official car for the length of the situation, which refutes claims that the governor was the target of an assassination attempt.

Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, issued a statement in which he urged restraint.

Adeleke, who thanked God for protecting him and his team, also gave the go-ahead for the state commissioner of police and law enforcement officials to detain those responsible for the event.

“The government takes particular note of the role played by former senator Ajibola Bashiru, who occupied the place designated for the governor at the prayer ground, with astonishment and amazement. Nothing worked to persuade the former senator to leave the area.

“PDP members who pushed for respect for the governor’s position were assaulted. By the time the Governor showed there for the prayer, the situation had become chaotic.

The administration was even more astonished to discover that there were armed thugs everywhere in the prayer area, according to security sources, who were there to kill the governor and other important government officials.

“Armed thugs almost surrounded the governor as he arrived at the location to observe the Eid prayers, causing security personnel to put him in his jeep.

“The Governor tried to enter the prayer field for a second time, but it was immediately clear that armed thugs were surrounding him. The Governor was forced to leave the prayer area at that point.
