Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal expressed sympathy to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on the abduction of potential corps members in the state a few months prior.
When he visited NYSC Director General Brig Gen Y.D. Ahmed at NYSC Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, he expressed his feelings.

Governor Lawal expressed regret at the kidnapping of the young graduates and gave the assurance that his office is coordinating with security services to guarantee their safe return.
He also restated that his administration is collaborating with all security agencies around the clock to ensure the state is secure enough for the ongoing deployment of corps members.
In response, the NYSC Director General expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting the plan during a difficult time.

He expressed gratitude to the Zamfara State government and people for supporting NYSC in their efforts to achieve the release of the kidnappees.
He gave Governor Lawal his word that the NYSC was prepared to send more corps members to the state as soon as security conditions improved.
Eight potential corps members from Akwa-Ibom State were abducted in Zamfara State on their route to the orientation camp in Sokoto State, according to the furucinovel.

In the meantime, NYSC had managed to obtain the release of two of the kidnappees with the help of the security services.
