Hagi was widely regarded as one of the top attacking midfielders in the 1980s and 1990s. He is currently the manager of Liga I club Farul Constanța.

Between 1990 and 1992, while he was a member of Real Madrid, he was widely recognized as the best Romanian footballer to have ever lived.

The former midfielder, who is now 58 years old, played 84 games for Los Blancos, contributing five assists and scoring 20 goals as they won the 1990 Supercopa de Espaa.

When the former Romanian international joined the Blaugrana in 1994, he joined the 33 players in football history who have played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Hagi played 51 times for the Catalan team, contributing five assists and 11 goals.

Hagi told FourFourTwo that both clubs had given her a lot to learn. In many ways, I left both of them better than when I arrived. I had gained cultural knowledge, received an education in their philosophy, and had been indoctrinated into believing that I was the finest in the world.

“I only thought about one thing after the Romanian Revolution [in 1989]: that I might become the best and play anyplace, which was impossible before 1989.

“I feel proud and honored to have represented both,” the speaker said. “It’s impossible to separate them.”
