The 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police officers, and Department of State Services (DSS) agents have all worked together to neutralize two IPOB/ESN combatants and arrest five others.

After a tough battle yesterday, July 17, 2023, in the general vicinity of Fuji Junction in Asaba, Delta State, the fighters were put to death by the combined security force.

The united soldiers moved into action as a result of distress calls indicating that the neighborhood was being attacked by terrorists.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of army public relations, said that the terrorists were defeated by the overwhelming firepower of the forces after two of their members were killed in the ensuing combat, while the survivors retreated to their hideout near the Okpanam River.

The statement further stated that the forces had successfully followed the evading criminal elements to their hiding in a home near the Okpanam River, where they were apprehended.

A Baofeng radio receiver, 15 live rounds, an AK-47 magazine, a pump-action semi-automatic weapon, and one AK-47 rifle were all found by the soldiers.

According to the statement, the public should “continue to cooperate with the security agencies by providing actionable information to support their operations to tackle security challenges.”

The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has since praised the combined forces for their efforts and urged them to maintain their cooperation as they work to restore peace in the area.
