Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, the Emir of Gwandu in Kebbi, has called for Nigerians to exhibit a strong sense of patriotism in order to foster peace and togetherness in the nation despite the dire economic crisis.
He made this statement on Saturday during a feast held at the residence of University of Port Harcourt Vice-Chancellor Prof. Georgewill Owunary in Birnin Kebbi.

Iliyasu-Bashar is the Chairman of the Kebbi Council of Emirs in addition to being the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.
“We must therefore see ourselves as brothers and sisters; this country is ours,” he declared.
Nigeria is a large country with a lot of resources; we must make sacrifices to keep it united.

The patriarch of the royal family expressed gratitude to God Almighty for granting him the chance to serve the country in various positions.
He was also grateful to the VC and his staff for keeping the university operating efficiently.
Owunary had already praised the action, calling it an honor he had never experienced in his life.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration, Prof. Clifford Obiyo-Ofurun, represented Owunary, who urged Nigerians to be humble, united, and one.
He thanked the emir for his contributions to the institution and the nation as a whole, calling him an exemplar of national unity, peace, and coherence.
