Islamic cleric to Nigerians: support governments with prayer to alleviate insecurity

Sheikh Khalifa Kabiru Qasimu Awwalu, an imam who practices Islam, has urged Nigerians to pray for various tiers of government.

The head of Zawiyyar Sheikh Qassimu Awwalu Sabo in Ibadan, Awwalu, stated that this is essential for the governments to do in order to put an end to the nationwide insecurity brought on by the Boko Haram insurgency, kidnappings, and other societal vices.

The preacher revealed the information immediately after leading a Muslim congregation in the Wednesday Eld-Kabir prayers at St. Gabriel Secondary School Alao Akala Road Sabo, Ibadan.

Awwalu maintained that in order to end insecurity throughout the nation, Nigerians have a responsibility to support all levels of government.

He said that Oyo State’s governor, Seyi Makinde, had helped non-indigenous people in the same way that he had helped the state’s natives.

He continued by stating that the Eld-Kabir holiday is one of sacrifice and submission to God’s decree.

We thank God for this Eld-Kabir’s success, Awwalu remarked. It is a sacrificial festival. For a number of years, we have prayed in this location at St. Gabriel Secondary School on Alao Akala Road in Sabo, Ibadan.

“We, the clerics, are working with the governments in prayer to put a stop to the nation’s sense of uneasiness. We have been asking God to make the government successful.

The threat posed by Boko Haram, insurgency, and other societal vices must be stopped, and I ask the people, all Nigerians, to support the governments in doing so. For there to be peace in the state and throughout Nigeria, the populace must support the government.

“Makinde has recognized non-indigenous people on par with indigenous people. He has given us the chance in the same way that he did for the natives. People who lost the election but are still suing should wait until their case is ready. The election has already been won by the governor. People that are agitated need to be patient.
