Dr. Philip Agbese, Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives and Representative for the Ado/Okpokwu/Okpokwu federal constituency, has stepped in to help resolve the conflict that has erupted between the Agila and Ngbo villages in the Ado and Ohaukwu Local Government Areas of the states of Benue and Ebonyi.

In an effort to put an end to the decades-long conflict in the community, the congressman participated in a meeting at the Ohaukwu Local Government offices in Ebonyi State with the various parties involved.

According to Dr. Agbese, this meeting is the first of its sort in the countless efforts to bring an end to the conflict that has been going on between Agila and Ngbo for an extended period of time.

He stated that at this stage of the ongoing struggle, regular talks are no longer sufficient and that severe measures need to be taken in order to install peace among the people.

After the peace talk, Agbese gave an interview to the media and said the following: “Peace is not entirely the absence of war or conflict in a society.” However, the ability to look past differences in favor of personal development and progression is essential.

“Today, I accompanied the noble people of Agila to a ground-breaking peace meeting with our Ngbo brothers at the headquarters of Ohaukwu Local Government Area. This meeting took place at the Ohaukwu Local Government Area.

“This is one of the most important pledges I made during the campaign, and I am pleased to report that the peace that had evaded us in Agila, Benue State, and Ngbo, Ebonyi State, has been restored. To the glory of God.

“By the glory of the Almighty God, we will get there gradually, and anything that God is incapable of doing does not even exist.”

In closing, I would want to express my gratitude to our community for all of the support it has shown us thus far. We have not reached that point yet. I am in desperate need of your patience and prayers at this time. YES, WE CAN, and things will start to get better very soon.”

Along with his colleague Hon. Eze Nwachukwu Eze, who was representing Ohaukwu Federal Constituency and his people who were present at the meeting, Agbese led a delegation to the meeting that consisted of prominent political, religious, and traditional leaders from the Ado/ Okpokwu/ Ogbadibo Federal Constituency. Those leaders attended the meeting.

In addition, Lami Danladi, who is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly for the State of Benue and who is elected to represent Ado State Constituency, was present.
