N32.7 million checks are given to the families of deceased police officers and accident victims in Kogi

On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, checks totaling N32,767,784.86 have been distributed to 44 police officer families in Kogi State.

Families of police officers who passed away while on duty or were injured in an accident while performing their duties were given checks.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday by SP William Ovye Aya, Public Relations Officer for the Kogi State Police.

Aya reported that the checks were delivered on Tuesday on behalf of the police authority by CP Akeem Yusuf, the commissioner of police in Kogi State.

“The gesture was part of the Group Life Assurance, Group Personal Accident, and IGP Family Welfare Insurance Scheme, which is intended to improve the welfare of the families of deceased police officers and to assist police officers who became accident victim(s) while performing their duty,” the statement reads.

“DCP Ajewole Joshua Adedayo, who represented the Commissioner of Police during the presentation of checks to the affected police officers and next of kin of the deceased officers, stated that the police are aware of the impact of the deceased officers’ deaths and that the force will always support their families.”

Aya added the Commissioner of Police further asked the beneficiaries not to squander the money but rather to use it wisely for the betterment of their family while advising police officers who were accident victims to keep up their good work.
