Despite the grace period granted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the collection of the Permanent Voters Card, approximately 9,710 of those cards are still lying in the respective local government areas, awaiting their rightful owners.

Aside from the idle PVCs, non-sensitive materials expected to be used in the presidential elections scheduled for the 25th of this month have begun to arrive in Nasarawa state’s thirteen local government areas.

Dr. Uthman Ajidagba, the Nasarawa State Independent National Electoral Commissioner, stated this on Tuesday.

Ajidagba revealed the information shortly after inspecting vehicles hired to transport materials from the INEC state headquarters in Lafia.

The INEC REC for the state stated that the deployment of non-sensitive materials in the second phase was to allow for rapid distribution to Registration Area Centres and Electoral Wards across the state.

According to him, INEC is speeding up preparations to guarantee that the polls go off without a hitch in all polling units.

Although non-sensitive materials such as mats, ballot boxes, voters cubicles, and election bags have already been delivered.

Nasarawa state, which shares a border with the Federal Capital Territory, was recently in the news for an air strike targeting bandits in the state, which unfortunately resulted in the deaths of some innocent people.
