The Department of State Services, DSS, has been forewarned by the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, not to deny Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, access to medical care.

According to pressloaded, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s attorney, had expressed concern over his client’s allegedly declining health and claimed that he had been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal illness.

He claimed that Kanu’s request to see his physicians was denied by the DSS.

In response, COSEYL expressed concern that the DSS would disregard a court order that had previously allowed Nnamdi Kanu to freely contact his doctor for treatment in a statement by its president general, Goodluck Ibem.

“If the DSS has no regard or respect for court orders, where did they get the authority to keep him,” the statement asks in part. Are they attempting to inform Nigerians that Kanu is being held without a court order?

“We are asking these important issues since the DSS’s refusal to abide by court orders strongly suggests that they are holding Nnamdi Kanu on their own, according to our analysis.

“The DSS has no authority to choose which court orders to follow and which to ignore. They must abide by any court orders according to the law.

“We demand that the DSS immediately grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unrestricted access to his family members and doctors as ordered by the court. The DSS’s activities are seriously endangering the democracy we have worked so hard to establish.

Nigerians are being taught how to disregard the law and court orders by the DSS. The DSS is educating Nigerians to ignore the law and court decisions, which would lead to anarchy and the end of our nation as we know it.
