Nigeria is a very impoverished country and we exaggerate our wealth – President

The Presidency characterizes Nigeria as a “very poor” nation and claims that the country’s wealth is overstated.

This was stated by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, on Monday in an Arise Television interview that was viewed by furucinovel.

Considering its low per capita GDP in comparison to other African countries, he claimed Nigeria is still an extremely impoverished country.

To be honest, Nigeria is an extremely poor country. I believe that people overvalue our money,” he remarked.

“I think we have a poor estimation of the wealth of the country, we are a very poor country,” the presidential assistant stated in reference to the status of Nigeria’s economy and the administration’s efforts to maintain stability.

The administration “is hoping that the pressure on our finances will reduce,” he said, with the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate.

Onanuga, meanwhile, refuted assertions that the Tinubu-led administration continues to owing federal employees emoluments.

According to the AGF office, there is a problem with the technology that is being utilized to distribute salaries.

He went on, “Yes, salaries were delayed, but all federal workers have been paid, according to a briefing I got this morning.”
