This comes after the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) issued warnings about the imminent flood threat and potential damage caused by the flood.
According to the NiMet forecast, Cross River State is one of the states most at risk for flooding, and this year’s floods will be even more destructive than last year’s.
Speaking to other MPs on Tuesday, Speaker of the Assembly Elvert Ayambem gave citizens of the state the assurance that the administration was prepared to attack the flooding threat plaguing the city head-on.

The member for Yakurr 1 state constituency, Cyril James Omini, had proposed a motion that had prompted a call for the Ministry of Environment and Waste Management Agency to take action.
Ayambem emphasized that the state government will always be proactive in addressing the danger that unfavorable weather conditions pose to the state.
Additionally, he claimed that the government is conscious of its obligation to develop long-term plans that will safeguard everyone’s safety from flooding along the Cross River and improve the environment.
