Parents and guardians are urged by the Oyo State Police Command not to let their children be used as weapons in the state.

This directive came from the command through a statement that Adewale Osifeso, the PR officer, put out.

Part of the statement read: “The Oyo State Police Command, under the constructive leadership of CP Sonubi Ayodele, in conjunction with other relevant sister services, has emplaced comprehensive security strategies towards a successful anniversary outing. Residents of Oyo State join the rest of the nation in celebrating her 64th Independence Anniversary.”.

The Command would like to remind residents that there have been many meetings with parents, guardians, and leaders from various sectors to discuss strategic matters.

They are being asked to refrain from using their children, wards, or followers as a weapon to disturb the peace in the state leading up to, during, and after the anniversary celebrations. Anyone found guilty would face severe punishment.

To add another layer of oversight for the field operators under their command during this time, area commanders throughout the command have been ordered to personally lead convoy patrols inside their jurisdictions.

“Finally, the Oyo State Police Command wants to make it clear that it is committed to collaborating with all patriotic citizens of the state to keep the peace and protect everyone.”
