The organizers of the #EndBadGovernance demonstration in the nineteen states in the north have withdrawn their support just twenty-four hours before the nationwide demonstration scheduled to begin on October 1.

They claim that the organizers have failed to adequately ensure the safety of the demonstrators.

The decision to withdraw was made, according to the organizers, since national organizers couldn’t settle the complex problems of protecting demonstrators and preventing criminals from taking over the event once again.

The #Endbadgivernance Protest’s northern coordinators, Abdullahi Daura (chairman) and Mohammed Musa Biu (secretary), issued a joint statement in which they expressed their hope that the violence that broke out in Kano, Kaduna, and elsewhere in the north would not break out again.

Our inquiries and demands for security detail at the northern gathering spots where protesters will congregate have been documented, as stated in the statement.

However, steps to prevent violence and looting have not been implemented, and we still have not received a definitive response.

“In light of the circumstances, we are requesting that all members in each of the nineteen states comply with the coordinators’ orders and withdraw until we receive authorization from the relevant security organisations.”

The organizers assured Nigerians that they will continue to put pressure on the federal government to end the unfriendly policies that have caused a great deal of hardship.

However, they also explained that the lives and property of innocent citizens are their top priority, so they must pull back until further notice.

The statement emphasized the need of maintaining composure and harmony during the North American Independence Day festivities on October 1.
