Park Management System is illegal and unconstitutional – Folarin informs Makinde

Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate in the 11th March 2023 election in Oyo State, has declared that Governor Seyi Makinde’s Park Management System, PMS, is illegal.

He made this statement Tuesday evening during a guest forum hosted by the correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State chapter.

Some APC chieftains were present, including Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, Alhaji Sina Alabi, and the chapel’s Chairman, Mr. Raji Adebayo.

DAILY POST remembers that Makinde outlawed the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, and replaced it with PMS a few years ago. Folarin, who now represents Oyo Central in the Senate, stated that the first thing he will do as governor after taking office in May 2023 will be to cancel PMS and reintroduce NURTW because it is the only one recognized by the law.

He believes it is unacceptable that parking lots and garages are better than schools.

He noted that a situation in which roughly 50 schools were delisted by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, due to examination malpractices does not reflect the state’s reputation as a pacesetter.

“PMS is illegal,” Folarin stated. PMS is unlike anything other. It violates the constitution. NURTW is well-known to us. The first thing I’ll do on my first day at work is replace PMS with NURTW. PMS will pass.

“I’m not worried about NURTW. They will generate revenue for the government. Thirty-three out of 36 in the education ranking is bad. Fifty schools delisted by WAEC is bad. The first thing is to declare a state of emergency in education and other sectors.

“It is only in Oyo State that motor parks and garages are better than schools. A situation where motor parks and garages are better than schools is unacceptable”.

Raji, in his welcome address, explained that the guest forum was part of his campaign promises to make the chapel great.

He said, “Today is a fulfillment of one of the promises made when I was campaigning that I will make the Correspondents Chapel great and vibrant with the calibre of people that would be featuring on our Guest Forum, and here we are, with the help of God and people like Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, who is not only my personal person but big boss; YSO Olaniyi, media aide to Senator Foalrin and my good friend, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, who was my class and course mate at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, who is the APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo state. I thank you all for the support.”
