Pastors should refrain from getting involved in politics, according to Festus Keyamo, spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council.

Keyamo made this statement in response to recent Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria comments (PFN).

David Bakare, the PFN’s deputy national secretary, noted in an interview with TheCable that the organization has no ties to the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria members who held a meeting with Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, on Friday.

The PFN also reiterated its objection to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Keyamo asserted that the PFN has no authority to criticize the actions of the ruling party in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.

“The PFN are not party members. That day, they should cast their ballots, he said.

They shouldn’t have come to publicly criticize our party’s choice. Pastors’ main responsibility is to guide people to paradise, not the [presidential] mansion.

“If I attend church every Sunday, I want to hear the message from God, not one about politics or who should be in charge of me.

I don’t want to hear a sermon that will take me to the villa; I want to hear a sermon that will bring me to salvation.
