Ayuba Wabba, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has requested that the Federal Government start paying health workers’ hazard money.
The statement was made by Wabba on Thursday in Abuja during the 2022 FCT Nurses Week/Scientific Workshop of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM).

The Labour leader pointed out that many medical personnel have contracted illnesses as a result of their close contact with patients.
According to NAN, Wabba praised nurses and midwives and said that they would receive rewards both in heaven and on earth.
The President expressed optimism that their morale will improve after receiving their hazard money.

Wabba gave a special tribute to those who lost their lives fighting the COVID-19 outbreak in the nation.
As “the smile of life,” nurses and midwives hold a special place in Nigerians’ hearts, he continued.
They also hold a very significant place in every nation’s healthcare system. Without nurses, there is no future for the healthcare industry.

“You are the lifeblood of the healthcare system; being a nurse requires a mother’s heart and compassion. This is the heart that must characterize our healthcare industry, he remarked.
