The Super Eagles finally broke their dismal record in friendly games, and Jose Peseiro couldn’t contain his joy after hearing the news.
At the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira on Monday, the Super Eagles were victorious over the Mambas of Mozambique by a score of 3-2.

It was the first victory for the three-time African champion in a friendly match in a total of 16 attempts.
Peseiro was relieved that the Super Eagles had succeeded in breaking their losing streak at last.
Peseiro said after the game, “I am happy because after 15 matches, we have finally won a game,” and he was right to be happy.

We have not been victorious in any of our exhibition matches in the past five years. Although we have a record of eight losses and seven draws, the outcome of today’s game was favorable.
In November, Peseiro’s squad will compete in two more qualifying matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, this time against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
