“A pregnant woman and the tricycle driver died in the incident,” he said.
According to Hundeyin, three further people, including a police officer, were critically hurt and were being treated at an unidentified hospital.
A police officer who was part of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) squad, according to him, was severely battered by a mob and taken to a nearby hospital.

“The mob attacked the hospital, and the injured policeman was evacuated to another facility for treatment and safety,” he claimed.
However, the spokeswoman stated that although no one had been arrested, the command had started looking into the event.
According to information obtained by NAN, the accident happened when a police officer and a LASTMA representative attempted to remove the driver of a Sienna car’s steering wheel.

Additionally, it was learned through an eyewitness that the policeman was dragging the steering wheel onto Wale Street, Balogun Bus Stop, Ago Palace Way, Okota, along with the car’s driver.
“I watched the police drag the car while the driver, who would not stop, was steering.
“He pulled the steering along with the driver until the vehicle struck Keke, a commercial tricycle driver who was pulling a pregnant woman and her two children.
The wife, her two children, and the keke driver perished this morning in that manner.
The source claimed that while other police officers arrived on the scene and began intermittently firing, the victims were crushed by the automobile.
LASTMA, in contrast, said in a statement that the collision occurred as a result of a car driver being stopped for driving against traffic.
According to the LASTMA spokesperson, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, two schoolchildren were injured while a tricycle driver and a pregnant woman perished.
According to Taofiq, the traffic officer in charge of the region, Mr. Hassan Kehinde of zone 27, Okota, who oversaw the patrol team, revealed that a driver of a blue Toyota Sienna with the license plate AKD 944 HN had been stopped for using the one-way system to avoid traffic on Ago Palace Way.
He claimed that a patrol team member offered to escort the stopped car to the LASTMA office for proper booking.
“While traveling, the automobile driver attempted to flee and detoured into Bayo Oyewale Street, Ago Roundabout, where he rammed into a fully laden tricycle.
“The pregnant woman passed away at the hospital after the tricycle driver passed away in an instant.
The two hurt schoolchildren are currently receiving medical care in intensive care, he added.
The police escort in the contravened car also suffered varied degrees of injuries as a result of the collision, according to a LASTMA official.
He claimed that the incident led to demonstrations as a furious throng converged on the escort police officer, but that the policeman was spared from being lynched thanks to the prompt intervention of police patrol from the Ago/Okota/Ilasa Stations.
Invasion of LASTMA yard and vandalism of valuables, including vehicles on the property, he stated.
