Michael Anugwa, the Deputy Controller of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), has rejected the allegations that he was suspended by the agency.

Near Kirikiri, Lagos State, where the notorious crossdresser Bobrisky spent his incarceration time, Anugwa is the commanding officer of the Medium Security Custodial Centre.

Bobrisky was given a four-month prison sentence in April 2024 for naira misuse, according to furuci novel.

Bobrisky allegedly paid officials N15 million to spend his prison term in a private residence near the Lagos detention center, according to an audio clip that was obtained by popular social media critic VeryDarkMan.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, announced the suspension of Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, the Deputy Controller of Corrections in charge of the Maximum-Security Custodial Centre, in response to the controversy surrounding the audio.

On Monday, September 30, 2024, Anugwa told members of the House of Representatives committee looking into the bribery charge against the NCoS and the anti-graft agency that his suspension was based on a report on social media.

“I didn’t receive a letter,” he complained.
