In the announcement, it was mentioned that on February 9, 2024, State Resident Electoral Commissioner Umar Muktar Gajiram called a stakeholders’ conference and declared that all interested political parties should take part in the upcoming supplemental election.

Contrary to previous pronouncements, the statement claims that the REC emphasized during the meeting that all political parties participated in the February 3, 2024 by-election would take part in the impending supplementary election.
